Boom Boom Satellites (ブンブンサテライツ, Bun Bun Sateraitsu?) are a Japanese electronic music duo consisting of Michiyuki Kawashima and Masayuki Nakano. While their music can be mostly coined as big beat or nu skool breaks, and they are heavily influenced by jazz, they are famous for using a lot of electric guitars and the final product often has a strong rock or punk flavor. In 2004, they contributed numerous songs to the soundtrack of the anime film Appleseed, and also the 2007 anime film Vexille.
Boom Boom Satellites sixth full length studio album, 'Exposed' was released on 21 November 2007. "What Goes Around Comes Around" (which has been featured in a commercial for Dodge) and "Easy Action" (which is featured in the film Vexille) are two of the songs featured on this album.

The Thought Criminals are a 4 Piece from London. They are influenced by Gary Numan,Soft Cell, Nitzer Ebb, John Foxx, The Prodigy, Sex Pistols. They are the new face of London's Underground and have headlined venues such as The brixton mass, the camden underworld, goldsmiths college, 333 club, roehampton university, the hope and anchor, the dublin castle. The Band was signed in 2006 Summer and quickly dropped that label in September 2006. The band have become probably one of London's biggest underground acts and have been growing strength to strength. The Thought Criminals - Suicide Bomber
The Thought Criminals started as a supercharged synaptic in the in the mind of a splodge reclining on a floor of a South London college sometime in 2004. The splodge set about to create something that could comfortably lounge in the seedy underbelly of London until ready to sell out to the highest bidder. Whilst the foundations of the sound, including the tongue in cheek lyrics and infectious hooks were tweaked, stretched and pounded, the splodge set out on a mission of mismatch to recruit its notorious members to give a face to this new horror.
rocky, a wrestling stripper, was headhunted from London's underground fetish scene with the promise of as many different species as he could handle in one night as long as he could keep his mouth open for up to 45 minutes on stage. Rocky provides a hard body that the rest of the band can always stand behind.
kirlian blue, a concept hacker, was caught by dipping our phishing net in cyberspace. He was easily persuaded that real viruses were much more fun to catch and that talking to girls would not hurt his fingers as much. Kirlian provides an infectious melody whilst playing any instrument with all eight fingers.
lee v2, a religious chemist, was found in the rehabilitation toilets of slimelight at 6am, praying for inspiration. With an exceptional imagination coupled with absolutely no musical talent, no promises were ever made to him and he still feels blessed to this day. Lee V2 provides a rhythm that the others can pound along to.
vortex, a bookstore prophet, was hiding behind a cash register clutching the last book with pictures and holding a gun. He was kidnapped in broad daylight with an agreement that he can only have his glasses back when we are famous. Vortex has so much talent that we all choke when we suck it out of him.
Colder is a French dance project. The project is the work of Marc Nguyen Tan (1974), a graphic designer who also is a DJ and remixer who remains actively involved in dance music and other projects. Despite the fact that Colder is, for the most part, entirely electronic, it is notably recognized for its influence by and similarities to Joy Division. Many of the drum patterns, instruments, and styles of the songs can be directly linked to Joy Division tracks. The design work of the albums and singles also strike strong similarities to Joy Division album covers (particularly Closer, which even resembles the name Colder); revealing Marc Nguyen Tan was also inspired heavily by Peter Saville. The Retrosic When the history of THE RETROSIC starts in April 2001 with the release of PROPHECY, no one can foresee that the first album will already enjoy considerable resonance in the electro scene. For keeping full control over his music Cyrus founds his own label TRIBUNE RECORDS, which became RETROSIC’s very own platform from its beginning.
Followed by MESSA DA REQUIEM hardly a year later, the mini album hits the top of the European Alternative Charts. It is celebrating “Record of the Year” of the DUTCH ALTERNATIVE CHARTS (DUC) after three months’ constantly holding the top position. The song GROUND ZERO establishes itself as a club hit overnight skilfully linking hard electronics with an oriental theme. For the first time here, THE RETROSIC is enriched by the classical singing of soprano Zaide who gives the EP its name quoting passages from the requiem by Verdi under the same name.
2002 and the following year also sees the band challenging various remix works for Bruderschaft, Clan of Xymox and a collaboration with [:SITD:] feat. Cyrus on vocals for the comic-soundtrack ERYNIS with the song DECOY and on the RETROSIC-Remix for LAUGHING STOCK.
Almost two years after MESSA DA REQUIEM, THE RETROSIC's second full-time release is brought to daylight with GOD OF HELL. Harsh arrangements combined with biting vocals remain the immovable centre of THE RETROSIC, now expanding to a fully band line-up behind Cyrus. A riot grrl with a vocoder and a cyberpunk with a distortion pedal. Thick and rich with burning analogue synths and contempt, driven by beats like shards of metal and glossy with pvc and sweat, Angelspit is a Sydney industrial/electro duo to watch out for. Since forming in 2004, Angelspit have taken their energetic live show throughout Australia, New Zealand, USA and Europe supporting bands such as KMFDM, Frontline Assembly, Front 242, Crüxshadows, Ayria, Tankt and IKON.
With their unique blend of industrial, rock, noise, metal and a touch of pop, Angelspit are forging a new style in cyber punk locally and internationally. Now with the release of their debut album Krankhaus, their sights are set on annihilating audiences and putting the aggression back into industrial music. Krankhaus features 14 tracks of blisteringly fat synths, with angry distorted beats and scathing vocals, evoking themes of horror, medical experimentation and the beautifully grotesque.
Angelspit's complex, rich and disturbing imagery enhances the sinister overtones in their music. This nightmarish aesthetic is the core that drives Angelspit's imagery, music and live show. US record label Dancing Ferret Discs signed Angelspit for USA and European ROCKness.
After touring East Coast of the USA in Feb/March 07 supporting the Crüxshadows and Ayria, Angelspit are now based in Berlin Germany. They have played at festivals such as Wave Gotik Treffen (Germany), Castle Party (Poland) and Summer Darkness (Netherlands). Angelspit is currently gigging thoughout Europe. Regina Spektor (Russian: Регина Спектор; born February 18, 1980) is a Soviet-born American singer-songwriter and pianist. Her music is associated with the anti-folk scene centered on New York City's East Village. In New York, Spektor gained a firm grounding in classical music from her piano teacher, Sonia Vargas, a professor at the Manhattan School of Music. Spektor studied with Vargas—whom Spektor's father had met through violinist Samuel Marder, Vargas's husband—until she was 17. Although the family had been unable to bring their piano with them from Russia, Spektor found a piano on which to practice in the basement of her synagogue, also utilizing tabletops and other hard surfaces for this purpose. Although she had always made up songs around the house, Spektor first became interested in songwriting during a visit to Israel with the Nesiya Institute in her teenage years. Attracting attention from the other children on the trip for the songs she made up while hiking, she realized she had an aptitude for songwriting.
Following this trip, she was first exposed to the work of Joni Mitchell, Ani DiFranco, and other singer-songwriters, which gave her the idea that she could create her own songs. She began writing her first a cappella songs around age sixteen, and wrote her first songs for voice and piano when she was nearly eighteen.
Spektor completed the four-year studio composition program of the Conservatory of Music at Purchase College in Purchase, New York within three years, graduating with honors in 2001. Around this time, she also worked briefly at a butterfly farm in Luck, Wisconsin, and studied in Tottenham, England for one semester. She gradually achieved recognition through performances in the anti-folk scene in downtown New York City, most importantly at the East Village's Sidewalk Cafe, but also at the Living Room, Tonic, Fez, the Knitting Factory, and CB's Gallery. During this period, she sold her self-produced CDs 11:11 (2001) and Songs (2002) at such performances. Spektor has said that she has created 700 songs, but that she rarely writes any of them down. She has also stated that she never aspired to write songs herself, but songs seem to just flow to her. Spektor's songs are not usually autobiographical, but rather are based on scenarios and characters drawn from her imagination. Her songs show influences from folk, punk, rock, Jewish, Russian, hip hop, jazz, and classical music. Spektor's musical style has drawn many comparisons to fellow singer-pianists Tori Amos and Fiona Apple, as well as the vocal stylings of Björk. Spektor has said that she works hard to ensure that each of her songs has its own musical style, rather than trying to develop a distinctive style for her music as a whole. Regina Spektor - Fidelity
Spektor possesses a broad vocal range and uses the full extent of it. She also explores a variety of different and somewhat unorthodox vocal techniques, such as verses composed entirely of buzzing noises made with the lips and beatbox-style flourishes in the middle of ballads, and also makes use of such unusual musical techniques as using a drum stick to tap rhythms on the body of the piano or chair. Part of her style also results from the exaggeration of certain aspects of vocalization, most notably the glottal stop, which is prominent in the single "Fidelity". She also uses a strong New York accent on some words, which she has said is due to her love of New York and its culture. Her lyrics are equally eclectic, often taking the form of abstract narratives or first-person character studies, similar to short stories or vignettes put to song. Spektor usually sings in English, though she sometimes includes a few words or verses of Latin, Russian, French, and other languages in her songs. Some of Spektor's lyrics include literary allusions, such as to F. Scott Fitzgerald and Ernest Hemingway in "Poor Little Rich Boy", The Little Prince in "Baobabs", Virginia Woolf and Margaret Atwood in "Paris", Ezra Pound and William Shakespeare in "Pound of Flesh", Boris Pasternak in "Après Moi", Samson and Delilah in "Samson", and Oedipus the King in "Oedipus". She also used a line from Joni Mitchell's California in her song "The Devil Came to Bethlehem". Recurring themes and topics in Spektor's lyrics include love, death, religion (particularly Biblical and Jewish references), city life (particularly New York references), and certain key phrases have been known to recur in different songs by Spektor, such as references to gravediggers, the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil and the name "Mary Ann". Spektor's use of satire is evident in "Wasteside," which refers to the classic satirical novel by the Soviet authors Ilf and Petrov The Twelve Chairs, and describes the town in which people are born, get their haircut, and then are sent to the cemetery. In Spektor's early albums, many of her tracks had a very dry vocal production, with very little reverb or delay added. However, Spektor's more recent albums, particularly Begin to Hope, have put more emphasis into song production and have relied more on traditional pop and rock instruments.
Spektor says the records that most impact her are those of "bands whose music is really involved", specifically naming The Beatles, Bob Dylan, Billie Holiday, Radiohead, Tom Waits, and Frédéric Chopin as primary influences. Ever since graduating Purchase in 2001, Regina has played hundreds of shows around NY. She ran away to France for a summer, and Switzerland for a spring where she also performed to rapt audiences. In NYC she has played at The Living Room, Tonic, Knitting Factory, Joe's Pub, Fez at Time Cafe, The Bowery Ballroom, CB's Gallery, Makor, and of course Sidewalk Cafe. In the fall/winter of 2003 she had the opportunity to open for the Strokes for their U.S. tour playing in front of thousands of music fans a night.
Sex’n’beats’n’rock’n’roll, voodoo guns, fatal dolls, synthetic drugs, super-zeroes, rusting needles, spaghetti-cyberpunk, self-destruction, acid tricks, zombie clubbing : Punish Yourself’s universe is a cheerful mess with no way out. If you want to enter (at your own risk !), drop your inhibitions... Techno-punk, industrial-glam, electro-metal, there’s no genre or trend to fit PY - it’s fun like a Russ Meyer movie, dark like a Romero zombie, fucked-up like a William Burroughs book - what’s the use of asking any questions? After years of intensive touring (+ than 400 gigs throughout europe but also canada, with bands like Oomph, Epica, The Young Gods, Therion, Hanin Elias, Queen Adreena, The Legendary Pink Dots, Senser, Clan Of Xymox, Fishbone, Das Ich, The Skatalites, Anorexia Nervosa, Funker Vogt, And One, Motormark...), PY now stands as the reference cyberpunk band in the french musical landscape. Probably not because they’re smart or write clever songs, but mainly because they got an infinite talent for messing up anything and make hormones boil. Goth, punk, ravers, rivetheads, metalheads, teenagers, old rockers, straight, gay, bi, everybody finds something to enjoy during their shows - shows that generally include full participation from the audience. Black UV neon-lights, glow-in-the-dark bodypaints, trashy cyber-pop-art scenery, the four members of PY are doomsday horsemen sweating blood, vodka and sex-sex-sex pheromones. And, if it wasn’t enough, there’s the incredible Klodia joining them with her magic metal grinder... + all the unexpected performers jumping onstage : when you go to a PY gig, you never know what’s gonna happen. Girls stripping, boys kissing, giant rabbits, naughty nurses - when the crowd tries to get wilder than the band, you can expect a high-level of comic-book madness. Finally, this is what it’s all about : a PY gig is a crazy comic book from hell, as if Jack Kirby was trapped inside a futuristic Titty Twister club. With more moloko...
Ken debuted on a legendary Belgian techno label, R & S Records, in 1993. Then he won No.1 on the UK’s NME magazine’s techno chart which led him to worldwide recognition. In 1995, the highly praised album "Jelly Tones" (R & S / Sony) was released. In the following year, the video clip for the single "Extra" from the "Jelly Tones" album (directed by Koji Morimoto, the animator of the worldwide hit cartoon, "Akira") won MTV Europe's "Dance Video of the Year" award. Since then, Ken has been regarded as one of the Japanese pioneers whose creation is on a world standard.
In 1998, Ken composed and produced the official theme song for the winter Olympics which took place in Nagano, Japan and it was played in more than 70 countries around the world. Then in 2000, Ken was on the cover of "Newsweek" magazine, featured as a symbol of the Japanese new culture. Also in the same year, he composed the theme song and soundtracks for the mega hit Japanese film, "Whiteout", which led him to a nomination for Japanese Academy Awards. Then in 2002, Ken finally set up his own label, 70 Drums, and released an album “Future In Light.”
These days, Ken spends 2/3 of his time in Europe, Asia, North and South America and Oceania DJing and working as a true international artist. In 2004, he was awarded the best techno DJ at "Dance Music Awards" in Ibiza, Spain, proving himself to be one of the world’s most talented DJs in the scene. Last year, he was in charge of the music for Japanese Government's Seto-Nippon Pavilion at World Expo, held in Aichi, Japan. In November, 2006, he released an original album "SUNRISER". He has also been continuously releasing on his side project, FLR, focusing on the dance floor. Visit his website
This song is just way too funky to NOT mention. The BEST part? It's 100% FREE. Go download it. (Support him though because it almost feels like a crime not to, Trent's post on some hard figures. Is it worth it to let people download an album for free?)
I think it's pretty cool that a band in this age and time of short attention span and rampant attention deficit disorder dares to release a video that requires your full attention to the very end of the clip to grasp all of it's subtle details.
time is like a bullet from behind I run for cover just like you time is like a liquid in my hands I swim for dry land just like you
time is like a blanket on my face I try to be here just like you time is just a fiction of our minds I will survive and so will you
we are the only ones right now that are celebrating and we are joining hands right now we are the only ones right now that are suffocating we are the dying ones right now
as the water grinds the stone we rise and fall as our ashes turn to dust we shine like stars
kisses on the dancefloor in my past I need some comfort just like you beating like a bass drum time goes by I want the last dance just like you
drowning in the flood of morning light I'm only human just like you do you hear the city waking up I will survive and so will you
we are the ones the only ones we are the ones the dying ones we are the ones the only ones we are the ones and we are joining hands we are the only ones right now that are celebrating
as the water grinds the stone we rise and fall as our ashes turn to dust we shine like stars
